Everyone is going on and on about Christmas. Apparently it’s soon. Really? I was trying to ignore it.
I used to love Christmas. By 22nd November two years ago, or five, or ten, I would have bought presents, watched some of my vast collection of Christmas films, played Christmas songs and started to get very excited about it.
I now wish Christmas would go away. There’s a reason why I no longer like it. There’s also a reason why I cannot ignore it altogether and disappear for the week. And they are the same reason.

Aaarrgh. I’m sure I will get used to it. I would have had to at some point anyway.

Oh I am not objecting to presents, cards and parties – just the day itself.

There’s nothing like a good stubborn phone fight (that you win) to cheer you up.

And then there is corporate bullshit like the following:
As you are aware R******* I****** run the “Be Proud” scheme. Yes I was, in fact I was going to nominate someone I saw in a gay club wearing one of our company t-shirts for innovative use of the “Be Proud” slogan. True story.......
This scheme is more than incentive scheme (really? What is it then?)...win a superb prize, win recognition, and increase your job satisfaction. A pay rise will do instead, cheers.....Every month I****** A-Z employees will be joined by those from other R******* I****** divisions *cackle* A-Z are the scummy black sheep of the family, could be fun....All expenses paid trip for two in a top European Country (England?)...Respect and recognition you will receive from management and colleagues I normally bin the Be Proud newsletter. Pay rise would be nice gesture though....Your commitment is the single most important key...pay rise? Christmas bonus? Extra week off? Never mind.

Argh! Lucozade fountain. That bottle's been sitting there all day, how could it fizz up like that!?
