Naming names.......

I work for a fairly small company. However we are a teeny weeny subdivision of a huge company. Rentokil Initial UK Ltd is our dad. But our dad's a bit busy and has loads of kids, so he doesn't have much time for us. And sometimes he confuses us with our older brother, Initial City Link, because we look a bit alike.
However our Big Brother (hmm..) is bossy and overbearing and won't leave us alone to our own devices even though we're all grown up. Big Brother is always trying to tell us what to do and how to do it, and our computer network and servers are inextricably linked to theirs.
What this boils down to is that I tried to get into Livejournal at work this morning (at 8.45 lest I be accused of skiving!) and was confronted by a bright yellow screen telling me that this was not a work related site. And that furthermore it may contain information on "drugs, violence, warez and assresssion." I kid you not, their spelling leaves a lot to be desired.
I was to contact someone in the IT department if I thought the site had been "blocked in error." In the style of Ginger I am tempted to put the address up here for everyone to contact him, however I am now at home, and therefore unable to access the same yellow screen (natch). I may at some point.
On reflection I imagine that what they were attempting to firewall is actually urban75 which is a site I have been reading lately. It's very good, go and play some of the games, and read My Rock Hell, but yes, it does feature stuff on drugs, direct action and so on. And the fact that I was still logged into Livejournal at the time is almost a certainly knock-on effect from that.
However I cannot think of a valid excuse to email wotsit in IT to ask for Livejournal to be unblocked, so unless someone comes up with one I shall end up having to journal at night from now on. Actually I think I'm more annoyed at not being able to read everyone else's stuff each morning.
My boss, by the way, was very sympathetic and suggested trying a different machine, but they were all the same. So they are not advanced enough to know it's Me, just someone in our building. My boss is also stuck in that he couldn't care less what sites I look at as long as I do my job, but has to ultimately answer to Big Brother too.
Oh and can you all try and get Sami's name right? It's Salo, not Salami or Solo. *tuts* I have more to say on Sami but I have chicken casserole in the oven......
